What is a U-Channel Power Supply?

A U-Channel Power Supply features components mounted inside a U-shaped aluminum chassis. This U-metal frame serves dual functions: acting as a robust mechanical barrier protecting internal componentry and functioning as a highly efficient conduction heat sink.


By transferring heat from switching MOSFETs, rectifiers, and transformers directly to the aluminum U-frame, engineers can mount the chassis against an external metal wall or cold plate. This enables fanless conduction cooling, making U-Channel power units ideal for high-vibration, sealed, dust-prone, or noise-sensitive industrial environments.
